I find it alarming that this new Government is so averse to consultants. They win their work through competitive tender, work usually on fixed price contracts, provide specialist expertise which may not be available in house, deliver successfully (or don’t get paid) and ship out as soon as the project is completed.
Surely this is better than overstretched in-house teams trying to take on work which they are not qualified to handle and which they’ll take forever to complete.
I’ll confess here that DTW provides a range of communications consultancy services, so we do have a vested interest. But I’m also aware of the gratitude clients have consistently shown when we’ve delivered successful work that was beyond the capacity and skills of their organisation.
Using management consultants is a classic example of the public and private sectors working in harmony and providing the best outcome for services.
Maybe I missed something in the election debate, but aren’t the Tories supposed to be in favour of the private sector?
