The Brief

SUEZ and the Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority wished to produce a series of films for use in stakeholder engagement and educational activities. These films needed to show the journey of Merseyside’s residual waste from collection at kerbside through to being processed and converted into electricity at an energy from waste facility on Teesside.

Our Work

The films followed the journey of waste collected from kerbside on a Merseyside street to a local processing and then via rail to a purpose built Energy from Waste (EfW) facility on Teesside.

As well as following the process visually, we used an accompanying voiceover to provide additional information about Merseyside’s waste collection and recycling processes and the state of the art technologies being used – particularly at the EfW facility.

Each of the two films had a narrative which was tailored specifically to the age and knowledge levels of the audience and, in the case of the educational version of the film, integrated with the school curriculum.

Results

The completed stakeholder film was used as part of a VIP opening of the Teesside EfW facility, as well as within wider stakeholder engagement activity by both SUEZ and MWDA.

The educational version of the film has been used in education engagement activity with schools and colleges across Merseyside by MWDA.
